Thomas A. Lande Funeral Services Held At Huxley
Funeral services for Thomas A. Lande were held Monday, April 9th at 2 p.m. at the Fjeldberg Lutheran Church in Huxley. Pastor M. Harold Rye was in charge.
Mrs. Selmer Westvold sang "Abide With Me" and "My Faith Looks Up to Thee." She was accompanied by Mrs. Orland Fjelland at the organ.
Pall bearers were Ardo Lande, Cecil Lande, Fred Lande, Leo Scott, Arnold Lande and Lyle Risvold.
Interment was at the Fjeldberg cemetery at Huxley.
Life Sketch
Thomas A. Lande, son of Anders and Matilda Lande was born Jan. 18, 1870 in Polk County. He was baptized and confirmed in the Fjeldberg Lutheran Church at Huxley of which he was a faithful member.
Dec. 30, 1908 he was united in marriage to Esther Christena Slattenow. To this union were born four children.
Those surviving are his wife, Esther, two daughters, Mrs. Myrtle Johnson of Oskaloosa, Mrs. Beulah Vespestad of Kelley, and a son, Everett Lande of Jewell. One daughter, Mildred, preceded him in death in infancy.
He also survived by 14 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews and two brothers, Edward of Thompson and Jane of Wheaton, Minn.
Mr. Lande entered the Sunset Home in Story City in October 1961. He died April 5th, 1962 at the age of 92, two months and 18 days, at the home after a short illness.
