Mrs. Ben Berchtold Rites Held At Story City March 23

Funeral services for Mrs. Ben Berchtold of Story City were held in Immanuel Lutheran Church at 2 p. m. on Friday, March 23. Rev. Harold T. Masted officiated, Miss Louise Olson was organist and Mrs. Benjamin Anderson sang two numbers.

Jessie Sadie Lee, the daughter of John and Sarah Lee was born in Story City on Nov. 22, 1904. She was baptized and confirmed by the Rev. T. T. Heimarck in Immanuel Lutheran Church. She graduated from the Story City High School with the class of 1922. In February, 1932 she was united in marriage to Ben Berchtold. Two children were born to this union, Robert and Sarah.

Following a two weeks illness at the Story City Memorial Hospital she entered the University Hospital in Iowa City where she died on March 19th.

She is survived by her husband, one son, Robert of Ames and daughter, Mrs. Sarah Anderson of Roland and six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister and one brother.

Burial was in the Story City Municipal cemetery. Pallbearers were Herman Lee, Everett Lee, Jerry Lee, Orville Lee, Lloyd Lee and Glen Carpenter.
