Lavonne Schlapkohl Funeral Services Are Held Friday

Lavonne Azalee was born a daughter to Charles and Alice Patterson, Collins, Iowa, June 8, 1892 and died Feb. 26, 1962 at the Story County Hospital, Nevada, Iowa, at the age of 69 years, 8 months and 18 days.

Her early childhood was on a farm near Collins, where she attended country school. In her youth she made her confession of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and was baptized into the fellowship of the Collins Christian Church. In later years she transferred her membership to the Christian Church, Nevada, Iowa. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star at Melbourne, Iowa.

June 1910, Lavonne was united in marriage to Harry L. Evans at Collins, Iowa. They lived in central Iowa with a larger portion of the time in Story County where Evans was a barber and farmer. One son Donald was born to this family.

Feb. 2, 1944 Lavonne was united in marriage to O. D. Schlapkohl and they made their home in Nevada, Iowa.

Lavonne was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, Mr. Evans and Mr. Schlapkohl, four brothers, Herman J., Otto, Eldon and Milford, also one sister, Opal Halterman.

She is survived by her son Donald B. Evans and his wife of Ottawa, Ill., other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services for Mrs. Lavonne Schlapkohl were held at the Ryan Funeral Home, Friday, March 2, 1962 at 1:30 p. m. with the Rev. W. R. Tuttle officiating.

Virginia Bierschwal, organist, played organ music for the service.

Casket bearers were Wayne Babbitt, Dwayne Brown, Ray Stefani, Kenton Viers, Jerry White and Joe White.

Burial was in the Evergreen cemetery at Collins.
