Mrs. Lizzie Skeie Funeral Services Held At Randall
Funeral services for Mrs. Lizzie Skeie were held at Elim Lutheran Church in Randall on Monday, Feb 9th at 2 p. m. with the Rev. Quentin Quanbeck officiating.
Music was by Mrs. Frederick Larson and Mrs. W. L. Benson.
Pall bearers were Donald Hill, Ramon Runkel, James Thompson, Herbert Halleland, Jr., John Halleland and Kenneth Skeie.
Interment was in the Story City Municipal Cemetery.
Life Sketch
Lizzie Ann Skeie, daughter of Melinda and Oscar Henderson, was born Jan. 2, 1874 on a farm two miles east of Randall. She was baptized and confirmed in the St. Petri Lutheran Church at Story City.
On Feb. 2, 1893 she was united in marriage to Sven Skeie. After living a year on her grandfather, Lars Henderson's farm, they moved to their own farm where she resided until her death.
She died on Feb. 15 at the Mary Greeley Hospital in Ames, having reached the age of 88 years, one month and 12 days.
Mrs. Skeie was a member of the Elim Lutheran Church of Randall, where she had been a member more than 70 years.
Mrs. Skeie was preceded in death by her husband, Sven, in 1947 and a daughter, Beulah in 1949.
Survivors include six children: Mrs. Theodore (Melinda) Hoversten of Jewell, Mrs. H. J. (Lillian) Halleland of Randall, Henry Skeie, Sylvan Skeie, Mrs. Torkel (Olive) Hill and Mrs. Martha Nordskog, all of Story City; 13 grandchildren; and 30 great grandchildren.
Also surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Bert Thompson of Roland, Mrs. John Wierson of Story City and Mrs. R. F. Ruegsegger of Stockton, Calif.; four brothers, Morris Henderson of Austin, Lincoln of Minneapolis and Burton of St. Louis Park, Minn. and Richard Henderson of Long Beach, Calif.
