Orin Dickinson Funeral Services Held In Story City

Orin Dickinson, son of Rudolphus and Hattie Johnson Dickinson, was born February 5, 1888, at Story City, Iowa, and died January 2, 1962, at the Story City Memorial Hospital following a stroke suffered a few days previously.

He was baptized at St. Petri Lutheran Church in Story City. On March 4, 1911, he entered into bonds of holy matrimony with Margaret Abrahamsen. The Rev. Mr. Wolfe officiated.

He lived in this community all his life, managing a farm until 1942, at which time he moved to Story City where, until approximately two years ago, he worked as a caretaker of the Story City parks.

He is survived by his widow, two sons, LeVerne of Jewell and Hans of Webster City; one daughter, Alma Sampson of Story City; six grandchildren; three brothers, Rudolph of Nevada, Andrew of Gilbert, and Frank of Ames; three sisters, Bertha Sawyer of Jewell, Frances Nelson of Carlsbad, New Mexico and Blanche Eason of San Bruno, California, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services

Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. on Friday, January 5, 1962 from Grace EUB Church, Story City, with the Rev. H. W. Riegel officiating. Kenneth Peterson sang two numbers at the service. Mrs. Dorrell Doolittle was organist.

Pall bearers were James Heintz, Torkel Hill, Jennings Sondall, LaVerne Smith, Leslie Hoffman and Harold Holm. Interment took place in Center Cemetery.

The Larson Funeral Home of Story City was in charge of arrangements.
