Services for Earl Culbertson Held on May 15 at Zearing
Funeral services for Earl Culbertson were held Sunday, May 15, 1960 in the Christian Church in Zearing with Rev. Dean Wolf officiating. Burial was in the Zearing cemetery.
Casket bearers were George Herr, Foster Coleman, Clarence Anderson, Eldon Chance, Bill Smuck and Dale Cook. Mrs. Delos Dakins accompanied Glen McBride, Dale Johnston, Eldon Crain and Paul Lundy, who sang.
The lovely floral offerings were cared for by Mrs. Troy Chance, Mrs. Guy Clatterbuck and Mrs. Eldon Chance.
Obituary
Earl Culbertson, son of Albert and Orpha Culbertson, was born in Franklin County, Pennsylvania October 4, 1889 and died at his home near Zearing Thursday morning, May 12, 1960 at the age of 70 years, 7 months and 8 days.
He was married to Alice McVitty on June 30, 1910 at Roxbury, Pa. To this union four children were born. They moved to Iowa in 1912 where he was engaged in farming and was a dealer in livestock in the Zearing community. He moved to his present home in 1941.
He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, Alice, one son Ralph of Cedar Falls, two daughters (Esther) Mrs. Gerald Vallem and Mrs. Dorothy Sebertson, both of McCallsburg and four grandchildren, Jerry Vallem, Nancy and Mary Culbertson and Susan Vallem.
He is also survived by two brothers and three sisters, Ellis of Chambersburg, Pa., Albert of Amberson, Pa., Beulah Shoemaker of Spring Run, Pa., Lola McVitty of Roxbury, Pa., also a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one son Eber, his parents and two sisters.
