Obituary

Beatrice (Reck) McNamer was born Oct. 7, 1895 at Upton, Iowa and died at Story City Hospital on April 30, 1960.

She was married to Paul Raymond McNamer, Jan. 23, 1915. To this union were born two daughters, Pauline, Mrs. Herbert Eddy of Zearing, and Dorothy, Mrs. Earl Hanson of McCallsburg. Her husband preceded her in death in 1944, at which time he was the Rock Island station agent at Garden City. She moved to McCallsburg in 1944 and served as the local telephone operator until 1954 when dial was installed.

Mrs. McNamer operated the Variety Store in McCallsburg the past six years where she endeared herself to the community by her cheerful smile and help, especially to the children who came each day to buy candy and school supplies from their beloved Mrs. Mac. She was a patient for the past three months at the Story City Hospital where her daughters were constantly with her and she was given all the loving care possible.

She is survived by her daughters and their husbands, Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Eddy and Mr. and Mrs. Earl Hanson, and two grandchildren, Sharon Beth and Beverly Eddy.

She was a member of the McCallsburg Presbyterian Church where she had served in many ways including secretrary for the Sunday school and also for her class, the Gleaners. She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends in the church and community.
