Rites Held March 3 For Emelia Halverson

Funeral services for Emelia E. Halverson were held March 3 at the Salem Lutheran Church in Roland with Rev. Everett Nelson officiating. Burial was in the Roland cemetery. Pallbearers were six of the grandsons, Lester Halverson, Ervin Halverson, Jordan Halverson, Henry Tordorff and Maynard Sampson.

Emelia Engelson Halverson was born in Strandvik, Bergen, Norway on June 16, 1875 and died February 28 at the age of 94 years at the Sunset Home in Story City where she had been a resident for the past four years.

She came to America in 1884 and was married to Lars Halverson in 1886. They spent most of their married life in the Roland community. To this union 11 children were born, Ines, Garfield, Mabel, Isabell, Albert, Henry, Levi, Lloyd, Nora, Kernie and Sylvia.

She is survived by eight children: Ines of Armstrong; Garfield of Kanawha; Isabell Watland of Estherville; Levi of Chicago; Lloyd of Roland; Nora Amenson; Kernie of Estherville; and Sylvia Sampson of Estherville.

Twenty six grandchildren and 57 great grandchildren also survive.
