Funeral Services Held at Collins For Wm. Rhoads

Funeral services were held for William H. Rhoads at the EUB Church in Collins Saturday afternoon at one o'clock with Rev. Ray Thompson of Sioux City officiating assisted by Rev. J. A. Ogden.Music was furnished by Mrs. C. R. Stone at the piano and Milton Hale and Mrs. Allen Struthers who sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "In the Garden."

Flowers were cared for by Mrs. Fred Luing and Mrs. George Jacobsen. Casket bearers were Elmer Smith, Wilham Fitzgerald, Fred Luing, Harold Smith, Tom Stratton and Andrew Johnstone. Interment was in Collins Evergreen cemetery with full military honors by Freeland-Carver American Legion Post No. 81 of Collins. The Cooper Funeral Service of Maxwell directed the services.

Obituary

William H. Rhoads, son of Thomas Edward and Caltha Rhoads, was born near Keytesville, Mo. on May 2, 1888 and died in the Veterans Hospital in Fayette, Ark. March 8, 1960, aged 71 years, 10 months and 6 days.

On March 11, 1917, he was united in marriage with Miss Emma Thomas, who survives along with five children born to this union. The children are: Doris (Mrs. Virgil) Doud of Grinnell, Dorothy of Phoenix, Ariz., Charles of Colo, Loren of Collins and Harold of Chicago. One son Carl Wilham died in 1922 at the age of 8 months.

Besides living around Collins for a number of years he lived in Arizona, Arkansas and was living in Carthage, Mo. at the time of his death. He also spent some time in the armed forces during World War I.

Other survivors are three brothers: Luther, Fred and Guy, four sisters: Ettie Osborn, Maud Nesselroad, Bertha Irwine and Ila McCutchen, eleven grandchildren and several nieces and nephews and many friends.
