Services Held For Mrs. Cora Rankin

Funeral services were held from the Cooper Funeral home in Maxwell Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock for Cora Rankin with the Rev. Robert McDonald of Collins officiating. Mrs. Alice Gooden sang "The Lord is My Shepher" and "He Hideth My Soul" and was accompanied by Mrs. Madelne Summit.

Flowers were cared for by Mrs. Helen Huggins.

Casket bearers were E. L. Wood, Van Busenberg, Raymond Hopper, Lyle Jay, Glenn Huggins, and Carl Milligan.

Interment was in the Maxwell cemetery.

Obituary

Cora Lichtenwalter, daughter of Samuel and Anna Gessman [should be Geesaman] Lichtenwalter, was born in Cedar county, Iowa, June 27, 1873 and died February 10, 1960 at the age of 86 years. She spent her early years on a farm near Lisbon, Iowa. After graduating from the Lisbon high school in 1892 she attended Normal Training School in Omaha. Later she accompanied her family to Oberlin, Kansas where she taught school for a number of years.

On January 10, 1899 she was united in marriage with Montgomery S. Rankin who died in 1941. To this union were born three daughters, Mrs. Zelma Carson of Great Bend, Kansas, Mrs. E. A. Clyne of Miami, Florida, and Mrs. R. W. Vasey of Collins; and two sons, Francis and Harold of Reasoner, all of whom survive.

Mrs. Rankin is also survived by three sisters, Mrs. Ida Hammer of Walla Walla, Washington; Ethel Penney of Long Beach, California and Ella Coley of Little Rock, Arkansas, nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

She was a member of the Evangelical United Brethren church and was a kind and devoted mother to the family and home.
