Glen "Skinny" Minear
Nov. 16, 1895, to April 14, 1999Glen "Skinny" Minear, 103, died of a respiratory ailment Wednesday, April 14, at Story County Long Term Care in Nevada.
He was born Nov. 16, 1895, near Collins to Marion and Sadie (McQuiston) Minear. He had been a barber starting at age 14 and had barbered in Boone, St. Joseph, Mo., Maxwell and Nevada. He had been in Maxwell since 1919. He married Alice Hatfield in St. Joseph, Mo., in 1916. She died June 25, 1951. He later married Vada Nickell Cordell in Nevada on July 3, 1956. She preceded him in death on Dec. 16, 1994.
Survivors include two sons, Max Minear of Orlando, Fla., and Barry Minear of Des Moines; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; both wives; two infant daughters and a grandson.
No services are planned.
Bacon Funeral Home, Nevada, is handling arrangements.
