FORMER ZEARING WOMAN DEAD

Mrs. James Beatty Died at Home of Daughter in Missouri

Special to the Journal.

Zearing, Sept. 14.--Mrs. James Beatty, 80, who died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Lizzie Bailey of Carthage, Mo., August 29, was for many years a resident of Zearing, is well remembered here and is the mother of Mrs. N. H. Norton of this place.

Death occurred after an illness of two months following a stroke of paralysis. She was a native of LaSalle county, Ill., where she was born January 13, 1845. In the year 1866 she was united in marriage to James E. Beatty at St. Charles, Ill. Following a residence in Illinois they came out to Iowa and lived at Zearing a time, after which they moved to Carthage, Mo., that having ben the family home since 1891. It was there that Mr. Beatty passed away in 1910.
