OBITUARY OF CHAS. BRYANT

Had Been Resident of County Half a Century.

The funeral of the late Charles Bryant who died at his home northeast of this city October 4, was held Monday afternoon from the Methodist church of Colo, Dr. C. N. Swihart of Memorial Lutheran church of this city officiating assisted by Rev. Banker of Colo. The services were largely attended by old neighbors and friends.

In his sermon Dr. Swihart spoke words of comfort from the text found in Hebrews 6:19 "Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast, and which entered into that within the veil."

Charles Henry Bryant was born at Rock Creek, Marshall county, Iowa May 18, 1863 and died at his home about five miles northwest of Colo on October 4, 1924, at 8:30 a. m., aged 61 years, 4 months and 17 days.

After his mother's death in 1869 he and his father moved to Missouri. Four years later he lost his father. Soon afterward he came to Story county at ten years of age, which has been his home ever since. On Jan. 2, 1891 he was united in marriage to Miss Fannie Tienan. Seven children were born to them, one of whom did in infancy. He was a devoted husband and father, a true friend and a kind neighbor. His kindly disposition and pleasant manner made friends of all his acquaintances.

For seven months he has been afflicted with cancer of the stomach. All that medical skill and loving care could do were done to relieve his suffering as much as possible, but in spite of all he suffered greatly. He bore his suffering with patience and fortitude, and met death without fear. He leaves to mourn their loss, his widow, six children; Mrs. Orpha Wengert, Mrs. Eva Anderson, Mrs. Mildred McCoy, Mrs. Florence Dannenberger, all of Colo except Mrs. McCoy, who is principal of high school at Swan. The sons Fred of Colo and Ray of Ames and one sister Mrs. Sarah Nyscaver of Edmond, Kan., and a wide circle of friends.
