Another Death There.

Special to the Journal.
State Center, Oct. 8 --Another death which cast a shadow of gloom over the community, on Sunday, was that of Henry Bode, 75, one of the oldest residents of the place, who died at 3:45 that afternoon, at the home of his son, Frank, three miles south of State Center. A hemorrhage due to ulcers of the stomach was the cause of death. He had been failing in health since last winter when he had an attack of flu which developed into pneumonia.

Mr. Bode was born in Wensen, Germany, March 15, 1849. He came to State Center when 18 years of age and married in 1868 to Miss Caroline Eckhardt who died in 1878. His second wife, who was Mrs. Addie Harne whom he married in 1879, died Dec. 5, 1923. Mr. Bode has lived with his son, Frank, since.

Surviving Mr. Bode are two daughters, Mrs. Mary Jackson and Mrs. Hannah Morrison of Sedalia, Mo., and three sons, Henry, William and Frank, all of State Center.

The funeral was held at the home of Frank Bode at 1:30 Tuesday at 2 o'clock at the Presbyterian church. Burial was in Hillside.
