OBITUARY OF EPH PROCTOR
Had Been Resident of Story County for Nearly 50 Years.
The community was very sadly shocked Wednesday evening when they heard of the very sudden death of Eph Proctor which occurred at his home Wednesday evening shortly before six o'clock.
Mr. Proctor with his family had been in Nevada in the afternoon and he appeared to feel as well as usual. They had returned home about 5:00 and the evening chores had been completed with the exception of separating the milk. He had assisted his daughter in straining the milk and she had gone over to the house for the milk pans and it was while she was there that a noise was heard from the milk house. Hastening to where he was, she found him lying in the doorway. Help was summoned and three doctors were called but death came before they arrived.
Ephraim Proctor was born at Cherry Valley, Ill., Jan. 16, 1863 and came to Story county with his parents in the year of 1876 and located on a farm 6 miles south of Nevada and there he spent the early years of his manhood. He was a son of Henry and Elizabeth Proctor and was the last of seven children to depart this life. His last brother, Lew, passing away on September 10, 1923.

Mr. Proctor was one of Story county's prosperous farmers, having lived on the homestead for 30 years where he died very suddenly from a stroke of apoplexy. He had been a patient sufferer for years, but always felt better by going about his work around the home, which stands as a pattern home a shows his high ideals for a beautiful country home. His life he has lived among his neighbors and friends stand as a monument for his excellent character and worth. He held numerous responsibilities of trust in his community.
He was converted and confessed the faith in Christ during a meeting held by Dr. Bunce in the Jefferson church many years ago.
