ELZY FUNERAL THIS AFTERNOON

MEMBER OF OLD TIME NEVADA FAMILY PASSED AWAY SATURDAY.

William Jesse Elzy, 61, died at his home on Fifth street Saturday morning at 5:30 and the funeral services were held from the home this afternoon at 3:30, after which interment was in the Nevada cemetery, under the ritualistic services of the Masonic order of which he was a long time and devoted member.

Mr. and Mrs. Elzy moved here last December from Oelwein, which had been their home for a number of years. Mr. Elzy had been a sufferer from pernicious aenaemia for some time and they had planned on going to Arizona last autumn for the benefit of his health, which he had been indifferent for some time, when the wife suffered a stroke of apoplexy from which she has be invalided since.

Mr. Elzy was born in Marshall county July 3, 1863 and came to Story county when a lad of four years with his parents and this had since been the home of the Elzy family. The deceased spent some time in Marshall county and about eight years ago went to Oelwein, where he established himself in the ice business. He was married to Mrs. Fannie Ager, at New Hampton, September 27, 1917, but no children were born to them.

He leaves besides his invalid wife, two brothers, Charles Elzy of Harlan, and C. E. Elzy of Nevada and a sister, Mrs. W. V. Harlan of Independence, Kansas.

Mr. Elzy was a member of Marshall Masonic Lodge No. 108, of Consistory No. 3 at Des Moines and of Za-Ga-Zig temple of the Mystic Shrine of Des Moines.

He was a man of fine character and of industry and thrift and his death will be mourned not only by the member of his family, but by a wide circle of very warm personal friend who admired him for his many fine characteristics.
