DEATHS

HATTIE (McCOLLOM) BINDER

Hattie Binder, 93, of Colo, died Friday, Oct. 21, 1983 at the Story County Hospital in Nevada.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 23 at the Colo United Methodist Church with Rev. James Tener officiating. Burial will be at the Colo Cemetery.

Hattie McCollum was born on March 29, 1890 to Frank and Ida (Kent) McCollom on a farm west of Colo. She was educated in the Colo Schools and graduated from Colo High School in 1908.

She married John Binder and has always resided in the Colo and Nevada communities. John Binder died in 1935. She taught school for a couple of years, and later worked in the county treasurer's office and the Colo Grain Elevator. During World War I she was the assistant County Food Administrator. She had also been involved in farming.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Colo and charter member of the Colo W. O. Club.

She is survived by four nieces, Grace Miller of Nevada, Ruth Ellwood of Ellsworth, Peg McCollom of Colo and Mary Dittman of Ames, one nephew, Art Clatt of Colo; and a brother, Ray McCollom of Des Moines.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Robert, Wallace and Forrest.
