Funeral Service at McCallsburg for Mrs. Matt Mehlow

McCallsburg, Nov. 22--Funeral services for Mrs. Matt Mehlow, 52, who died at her farm home southeast of here Wednesday, were held at the Presbyterian church Saturday afternoon with Rev. C. E. Lookingbill of Nevada in charge. It was one of the largest funerals held here in years. The songs wer by Miss Catherine Craig and Mrs. Guy Mills with Miss Cleo Tett at the piano.

Following the services here, the body was taken to the cemetery at Clemons for interment.

Marie Elizabeth Mehlow, daughter of George and Caroline Koch, was born near St. Anthony Sept. 12, 1885 and passed away at her home, four miles southwest of McCallsburg, Nov. 17, 1937, after a long illness, at the age of 52 years, 2 months and 5 days.

She spent her girlhood days on a farm near St. Anthony and was married there to Matt Mehlow, Feb. 3, 1915. They continued to live near St. Anthony for a time, later going to a farm near Zearing, for the past 14 years they have lived in the McCallsburg neighborhood. To this union, was born five children, one son Ralph, passing away in infancy and a daughter Lucy Caroline at the age of 7. Three sons, Clarence, Eugene and Edward with the husband survive.

Early in life she united with the Methodist church in St. Anthony and during the later years she had attended the Presbyterian church at McCallsburg. She was a woman of great christian faith and often during her last illness she had said she got her greatest comfort from her Bible and prayer, until she became too ill to read. Her first thought was always her home and family, and during her illness, all that loving hands could do, was done. She also leaves one sister, Mrs. Fred Hannusch of. St. Anthony, three brothers, John of Marshalltown, Fred of Walters, Minn., and Albert of St. Anthony besides a host of other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers were Andrew Olson, Earl Horton, R. A. Nelson, Walter Rasmusson, T. O. Haaland and Lester Kenney.

The flowers which were many and beautiful were cared for by Mrs. William Thomas and Mrs. Earl Horton.

Relatives and friends from away included, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Koch and daughter Celia, Walters, Minn., Mr. and Mrs. John Koch and daughter Mrs. Ruby Weatherly, Marshalltown, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Schlodder and Joh, Frank, Dewey and Mabel of Topeka, Kansas, Mr. and Mrs. Martin Buckwar of Ft. Madison, Mr. and Mrs. Martin Bihrisch of Haverhill, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Schmellik, Colo, Christ Schmellik and daughter Marie of State Center, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Rubnbauer and son Wayne, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Zeissneiss and children, Mrs. Floyd Evans all of Marshalltown, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hannusch, George Hannausch, Mrs. Ella Frohwein and daughter Wanda, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Koch and children, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Mehlisch, Mr. and Mrs. Martin Mehlisch and son, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Mehlisch all of St. Anthony and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Muschick, Elsie and August of State Center.
