Pioneer Resident of Lafayette Township Dead

Story City, March 16--Henry Ahrens, 79, died at the home of his son, Herman Ahrens, in Story City, this morning at 3:30. He had been in failing health for a year and he and Mrs. Ahrens had been staying at the home of the son during the winter months.

Funeral arrangement have not been made as yet.

Mr. Ahrens was born at Rockford, Illinois, May 13, 1856 and came to Story City with his parents when a lad of ten years. The family settled on a farm west of Story City and lived in that community all of his active life.

Mr. and Mrs. Ahrens celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on January 2, 1931. He leaves besides his wife, his daughter, Mrs. Richard Tietjen of Perry, sons Albert and Ed of Boone and henry of Oakland, Calif., daughters Mrs. George Stinson of Minneapolis and Mrs. Henry Kreutner of Story City and sons Efford and Herman of Story City.

He also leaves two brothers, Charles of Boone and Ben of Montivideo, Minn.
