Services Held Wednesday For Hamilton Kahler, 30

CAMBRIDGE: Funeral services for Hamilton Kahler were held Wednesday at 2 p. m. from the Cambridge Methodist church with Rev. LeRoy Sargent officiating, assisted by Rev. Grace Andersson.

Mrs. Keith Lyon and Mrs. Eldon Lyon sang two songs "Ivory Palaces" and "Beyond the Sunset" accompanied by Mrs. Harry Cairns at the piano.

Casket bearers were Joe Hartley, Richard Boyd, Harold Banks, Richard McHone, Bill Longnecker and Clayton Mittlestad. Burial was in the Cambridge cemetery. The American Legion conducted services at the cemetery.

Obituary

Hamilton Warren Kahler son of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Kahler of Cambridge was born on January 16, 1927 at Des Moines and died at the Veteran's hospital in Des Moines on January 20, having reached the age of 30 years and four days.

The deceased contracted polio two years ago in October. While he had suffered more or less from this, pneumonia was the immediate cause of death.

The Kahler family moved to Cambridge when Hamilton was about 5 years old. The remaining years of his life were spent in this vicinity except when he was in the Navy from December 1944 to June 1946, when he was honorably discharged.

He was united in marriage to Mrs. Betty McCormick January 15, 1949. To this union was born one son, Dennis. There is also a step-daughter Karen McCormick.

Surviving are his wife Betty, a son Dennis 6, a step-daughter, Karen 13, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Kahler of Cambridge, five sisters, Mrs. Anna Wallis of Des Moines, Mrs. Helen Elliott of Anchorage, Alaska; Minnie, Dorothy and Kay at home; five brothers, Raymond and Clifford of Cambridge, Walter of Des Moines, and Robert and Russell at home.
