Mrs. E. W. Skeers Died at Home of Her Daughter

Mrs. E. W. Skeers, 62 years of age, passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. George Kyle on Wednesday evening, Feb. 3. She had been ill for several months prior to her death and had been in poor health for some years.

Tesa Helen Thronson was born in Jewell county, Kansas, Oct. 10, 1874. She was married in 1898 to Edwin W. Skeers and in 1901 they moved to Jewell, Iowa where they lived until about four years ago. Since then she has lived with her daughter Mrs. Kyle.

Surviving her are her husband and eleven children, Mrs. Arthur Smith of Van Meter, Mrs. Howard Bemsmeier [should be Bernsmeier] of Blairsburg, Charles whose address is unknown, Lawrence of Kelley, Mrs. Hooken Harness [should be Haaken Horness] of Story City, Mrs. Eldon Jacobson of Boone, Mrs. John Crysler, Mrs. Joe Ogden, Mrs. Kyle and Virgil and Harold of Ames. She also leaves two sisters Mrs. Roy Parrett of Batavia, Ia., and Mrs. Ole Hansen [should be Hanson] of Randall, Kansas and two brothers Rasmus Thronson and Princeton, Minn., and Carl Thronson of Mankato, Kan., and fifteen grandchildren.

She was always a kind and loving wife and mother and she will be greatly missed by those she leaves. She was patient in all her suffering and death came to her as a welcome release.

During the funeral services which were held at the Lutheran church in Jewell Saturday afternoon at 2:30, there were two songs, "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Jesus is Mine," by Alta Engleby and Mrs. Yorke Johnson, both of Jewell. Prayer service was held earlier in the afternoon at the Adams funeral chapel in Ames and interment was in the Jewell cemetery.

Those from out of town who attended the funeral were Rasmus Thronson of Princeton, Minn., Mr. and Mrs. E. Roy Parrett of Batavia, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Koehl and Mrs. Laura Kyle of Des Moines, Mrs. Paul Parsons of Indianola and Mrs. Julia Freeland and daughter of Kelley. All the children were also in attendance.
