Funeral Services at Huxley for Peter T. Brown
Special to the Journal:
Huxley, Feb. 4--Funeral services for P. T. Brown were held Monday afternoon from the home at 1:30 o'clock and 2:00 p. m. at the Fjeldberg church. The services were in charge of his pastor, Dr. J. N. Andersen, who chose to speak on the words found in Revelations 3:16.Several sums of money were sent to missions in memory of Mr. Brown and the beautiful floral offerings paid silent tribute to the departed friend. Mrs. Albert Johnson and Mrs. A. O. Wenos had charge of the flowers. The Fjeldber choir sang one hymn and Mrs. L. S. Kloster of Des Moines sang a vocal solo "In the Garden." The pallbearers were O. J. Kalsem, Thor Mason, Wier Sydnes, Sac Toresdahl, A. O. Wenos and Dr. Severson. Interment was made in the Fjeldberg cemetery.
Relatives and friends from out-of-town in attendance at the services were his three daughters, Mrs. Adelia Schaeffer of Eagle Rock, California; Mrs. Clarice Crow of Des Moines; Mrs. Orva Richardson of Hollywood, California; Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Brown and Robert; P. L. Brown and Lewis A. Brown, all of Bemidji, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. L. M. Brown and children; Mr. and Mrs. Milford Brown and Vernon Brown of Estherville; Mr. and Mrs. Sven Berg and Floyd of Harlem, Montana; Mrs. Julia Larson and Harry of Roland; Mr. and Mrs. Jordan Larson and Mr. and Mrs. Thor Hegland of Ames; Mrs. H. O. Johnson; Mr. and Mrs. Herman Johnson; Mr. and Mrs. Herman Johnson and Lincoln Henderson of Story City; Mr. and Mrs. D. V. Jordan of Cambridge; Mr. and Mrs. Carl Huss of Collins; Ole Cleveland of Shipley; Mrs. Ernest Clay, Mrs. Don Bellmer, Mrs. John Burkhart, Mrs. Raymond Schoner, Miss Erma Sydnes and Mr. and Mrs. L. S. Kloster , all of Des Moines; Mrs. Anna Kloster and Sina and Mr. and Mrs. Otto Poehlein of Nevada; Mr. and Mrs. Jonas Tesdall of McCallsburg; Dr. and Mrs. Geo. Severson and Mrs. C. A. Peter T. Brown was born in Skaanevik, Norway, June 24, 1860. He immigrated to America in 1880 and lived near Newark, Illinois until 1882 when he came to Polk county, Iowa.
He was united in marriage to Matilda Sampson on March 17, 1887 and moved to Huxley in November, 1897, where he resided until passed away, January 26, 1937 at the age of 76 years and seven months.
He is survived by his widow and three daughter: Mrs. Adelia Schaeffer, Eagle Rock, California; Mrs. Clarice Crow, Des Moines; and Mrs. Orva Richardson, Hollywood, California and also five grandchildren who are deeply mourning the loss of a kind and loving husband, father and grandfather.
He is also survived by two brothers, P. L. Brown and J. L. Brown of Bemidji, Minnesota, four half-brothers, two half-sisters and a host of other relatives and friends.
