Obituary of Kenneth Shaw
Kenneth Edward Shaw was born to Mr. and Mrs. W. F. Shaw July 24, 1907 and passed from this life May 5, 1915. Little Kenneth was a bright attractive child and altho he only spent a few short years in this world he had many friends who loved him dearly. About two weeks ago while at play he stepped on wire and cut his foot. Home remedies were applied to the cut and nothing serious was apprehended until last Monday when it was discovered that symptoms indicated lock jaw. He was taken to St. Thomas Hospital in Marshalltown as soon as possible and every thing that medical skill or willing hands could perform was done to over come the dread disease but to no avail and at five o'clock Wednesday morning death came and relieved little Kenneth of his suffering. He is safe in the arms of Jesus. He leaves to mourn their loss his father and mother, four sisters, two brothers, Grandfather Shaw and Grandfather and Grandmother Houser, besides a large number of other relatives and many friends. Funeral services were held at the home Thursday afternoon conducted by Rev. G. H. Johnson, assisted by Rev. W. C. McKinley and the little form laid the rest in the Colo cemetery. School was dismissed for the afternoon and his school mates attended the funeral in a body. Relatives present from a distance were his grandmother Mrs. Wm. Houser of Lyons, Colorado, his grandfather Mr. J. W. Shaw and aunt Mrs. E. J. Binder of Baraboo, Wisconsin and his aunt Mrs. Eliza Perry of Winnebago, Minnesota. The entire community extend heartfelt sympathy to the sorrowing ones.
We desire to thank our friends and neighbors for their kindness and sympathy in our trouble in the death and burial of our dear little Kenneth and for the pretty beautiful floral offerings.--W. F. Shaw and family.
