THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Friday, July 29, 2005.

Homer Vilmont, 92, of Ames, died Wednesday, July 27, at Green Hills Health Care Center in Ames. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 1, at First United Methodist Church in Ames with the Rev. Fred Lewis officiating. Burial will be in Ames Municipal Cemetery.

Homer Vilmont was born June 6, 1913, to Maurice and Anna (Yale) Vilmont in Dixon. He graduated from Gilbert High School in 1932 and Iowa State University in 1936 with a degree in agronomy. He married Mary Allen in 1937 and she died in 1991. He married Eunice Ustrud April 12, 1992. He farmed his entire life near Ames.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Homebuilders Club, Farm Bureau, and Washington township school board. He served as the Washington township clerk and he served on various committees at Green Hills where he resided for the past 16 years. He was recently recognized for his 41 years of service in the Lions Club.

He is survived by his wife, Eunice Vilmont of Ames; one daughter, Vonnie Secketa (Jerry Seward) of Oak Harbor, Wash.; one son, Jule (Nancy Carrington) Vilmont of Greeley, Colo.; one daughter-in-law, Kathy Vilmont of Ames; three step-daughters, Janice (Michael) Bruckdorfer of Washington, Mo., Carol (George) Watson of Mendota Heights, Minn., and Cindy (Dennis Rollins) Ustrud of Lakeport, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and one sister-in-law, Florence Vilmont of Story City.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Allen; a son, Richard Vilmont; an infant daughter, Catherine; a brother, Chester Vilmont, and a son-in-law, Bill Secketa.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11:15 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 1, at Stevens Memorial Chapel in Ames.
