MISS EFFIE TOOKER DIED SATURDAY

FORMER COUNTY RECORDER AND WELL KNOWN OVER THE COUNTY

Miss Effie Tooker, 58, died at her home corner Main and Avenue H Saturday evening at half after five o'clock and the funeral services were held at the Methodist church this afternoon at two o'clock, after which the body was laid to rest in the family lot in the Nevada cemetery. The services were conducted by Rev. L. E. Watson of that church.

Miss Tooker, a native of Pennsylvania, was 58 years, 9 months and 18 days of age at the time of her death and had lived in Nevada the greater part of her life, coming here with her people as a girl, the only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Rollin B. Tooker.

Her mother died many years ago and she continued to make a home for her father until his death, a few months ago. Cancer of the bowels is given as the cause of death.

Miss Tooker had held numerous positions of trust in the city and county having served two years as county recorder and also as a deputy.

She was an active member of the Methodist church and its auxiliary organizations during the active years of her life and was a woman of fine character and was highly esteemed by all who knew her.

A brother Samuel Tooker, died a few years ago and in the death of Miss Effie the last member of the immediate family passes away.

Following the death of her father she had been cared for by a cousin, Miss Anna Rushmore of Des Moines who was with her at the time of he death, as well as other relatives of this city.

Other relatives living are an aunt, Mrs. J. B. Rushmore and a cousin of Miss Ella Rushmore of this city, a cousin Eugene Rushmore of Jefferson and a number of nieces and nephews in Des Moines.
