Marlette--Police Chief James C. Lounsberry, 63, died Sunday, Jan 19, 1986, in St. Mary's Hospital, Saginaw.
He was born March 5, 1922 in Colo, Iowa.
Chief Lounsberry started with the Mariette police force April 25, 1970. He made sergeant Sept. 17, 1973, lieutenant Oct. 16, 1978, and chief Feb. 26, 1981. He was a member of the Michigan Association of Chiefs of Police.
Chief Lounsberry is survived by his mother, Anna, Iowa; one son, James, Freeland; one daughter, Mrs. Mike (Terry) Jensen, Iowa; six brothers, Ray, Richard, Max, Vernon and Johnny, all of Iowa, and Harold "Woody," Frankenmuth; three sisters, Irene Arthurhoft, Iowa, Mary Ann Reimer, Oregon, and Annabelle Sykes, Illinois; and 10 grandchildren.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Marlette First United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Colo, Iowa.
Visiting is from 7 to 9 p.m. today, 1 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and 3 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the Marsh Funeral Chapel, Marlette.
Memorials may be made to the James Lounsberry Scholarship Fund.
