OBITUARY

ROBERT HEFLEY

Robert Hefley was born in Shelbyville, Ill., March 4, 1848. Died at Ackworth, Iowa on January 18, 1914 aged 65 years, 10 months, 14 days. He moved to Iowa with his parents in 1854 and has lived in Story county the greater part of his life. He enlisted in Company K of the 32nd Iowa Infantry in 1864 and was discharged January 18, 1866. He was married Dec. 24, 1869 to Evaline Palmer Kelley [should be Kelly] from which union 8 children were born, 6 sons and 2 daughters, of which 5 sons and one daughter still live, the wife and one daughter having preceded him to the spirit world. He leaves behind two brothers, one sister, 5 sons and one daughter, one sister, 5 sons and one daughter and 27 grandchildren besides other relatives and friends. He has lived with his eldest son Edwin Hefley near Ackworth in Warren county, Iowa, for the last three years where he passed away. He was brought to Colo for burial in Colo cemetery. His sons are E. M. Hefley of Ackworth, Iowa, Geo. Hefley of Hardy, Iowa, W. H. Hefley of Fallon, Mont., Levi Hefley of Norton, Kansas and his daughter Mrs. R. S. Mathers lives at Norton, Kansas.
