THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Tuesday, July 26, 2005.

Cory Russell Oswalt, 17, of Colo, died on Sunday, July 24, at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minn. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 28, at the Colo-Nesco High School Auditorium in Colo with Pastor Scott Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery in Collins.

Cory Russell Oswalt was born on Oct. 1, 1987, in Ames to Bradley G. and Mindy S. (Carver) Oswalt. He was a student at Colo-Nesco High School and employed at the Harvester Golf Club in Rhodes. Cory was a member of the Collins Christian Church and was active in 4-H, church youth group, golf team, band and choir. He enjoyed music, hunting, fishing, farming and being with family and friends.

He is survived by his parents, Brad and Mindy Oswalt; a sister, Caitlin Oswalt; two brothers, Chase Oswalt and Cade Oswalt, all of Colo; grandparents, Pam and Bill Hamilton of Des Moines, Russ and Wanda Oswalt of Collins, and Ed and Deb Carver of Altoona; and three great-grandparents, Forrest and Leonora Luing and Ralph Carver.

He was preceded in death by his uncle, Chris Carver.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 27, with the family present from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Collins Christian Church. A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m.

A memorial fund has been established.

Chet Ryan Mortuary in Nevada has been entrusted with the arrangements.
