THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Tuesday, July 26, 2005.

Melvina M. Wasel, 78, of Ames, died Sunday, July 24, at Mary Greeley Medical Center. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 29, at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Ames with burial to follow at Ames Municipal Cemetery.

Melvina M. Wasel was born to Thomas and Martha (Schultz) Modrowski on June 10, 1927, in Chicago. She married Edward S. Wasel on Aug. 30, 1952, in Chicago. She was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church.

She cared for her grandmother, mother and husband in her home until their deaths. In later years, she enjoyed making crafts for family and friends.

She is survived by her daughters; Debra (Dan) Westerberg and Denise (Cary) Grant, all of Ames; granddaughter, Melanie Westerberg of San Francisco; grandson, Mark Westerberg of Los Angeles; sister, Lorraine (Thomas) Cory and nephew, Brian Cory, all of Lisle, Ill.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Edward, in 1988.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, July 28, at Stevens Memorial Chapel in Ames.
