Dwayne Solyst, son of Reuben and Alma Anderson Solyst, was born Jan. 30, 1933, at Story City. He passed away Sunday evening, June 25, 1950, at Ames. At the time of his death he was 17 years, 4 months and 25 days of age.

Dwayne was baptized by the Rev. M. O. Sumstad at Roland, and was confirmed in the same church by Rev. Allen E. Nelson June 1, 1947. He attended the Roland schools and was graduated with the class of 1950, this year's class, on May 11, 1950.

Dwayne was an industrious boy, working as assistant janitor. During the summers, he worked on the farm until last summer when he was employed by the Ames In-Cross, Inc., with which firm he was connected at the time of his death.

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday afternoon, June 28th form the Erickson funeral home at 1:30, and from the Bergen Lutheran church at 2, with Rev. Allen E. Nelson officiating. At the prayer service, an octet consisting of schoolmates of Dwayne: David Swenson, David Peterson, Donald Holland, Eugene Christian, Bonnie Lura, Lois Helland, Solveig Stole and Alice Lura, sang "Just As I Am, without One Plea." At the church the octet sand "Safe in the Arms of Jesus," and Donald Boyd sang, "The Lord's Prayer."

The confirmation class of 1947, and the high school class of 1950, classmates of Dwayne, as well as the employees of Ames In-Cross attended the funeral in a body as a token of respect. The pallbearers were classmates of Dwayne: David Swenson, Roald Nelson, Loren Twedt, Max Larson and William Waugh, and Loren Larsen, a dear friend.

Left to mourn his departure are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Reuben Solyst, a sister, Sharen Kay, and grandparents, Mrs. J. O. Anderson and Mr. and Mrs. B. J. Solyst, besides a host of other relatives and dear friends.

The deep sympathy felt by all for the stricken family was evidenced by the large crowd of neighbors and friends a the funeral services, many people having to join an overflow crowd in the parish house of the church and follow the services over the loud speaker.
