Viola Greiner, 87, died February 23, 1988, of heart failure at North Grand Care Center, Ames, IA. She had been a resident of the center for nine years. Before moving there she was alongtime resident of the Colo and Ames areas.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Feb. 26, at 1:30 p.m. at Stevens Memorial Chapel, Ames with Pastor David R. Shogan of First United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be at the Story Memorial Gardens, Ames.

Visitation will be Thursday, Feb. 23, from 5 to 9 p.m. at Stevens Memorial Chapel, with family greeting friends from 7 to 9 p.m. and also prior to service time on Friday.

Mrs. Greiner was born February 22, 1901, in Washington County IA to Fredrick and Elisabeth (Lewis) Blickensderfer.

She graduated from Colo High School.

On June 20, 1925, She married Herman A. Greiner.

She was employed by Union Story Bank (now called United Bank and Trust) serving in various positions for many years.

She was a member of D.A.R., Rebecca's, Royal Neighbors, and First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include on son, Eugene Greiner of Delray Beach FL., one daughter, Marilyn Callahan of Sturgis, S.D.; three sisters, Bertha Monaghan of Greenville, SC, Ethel Shickell of Nevada, IA., and Myra Haas of Ames IA., nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1981, two brothers and one sister.

A memorial fund has been established.
