OBITUARY.
Lloyd Cumming

Mr. Lloyd Cummings was born in Northumberland County, Penn., Nov. 4, 1850, an died at his home south of Colo Dec. 30, 1916. He was married Dec 22, 1874 to Mary Ellen Cook who departed this life June 23, 1891. There were born to this union 7 children: Charles H., Harry L., Mary A., Ella L., Thomas A., Lloyd Jr., Grant U.; Charles and Mary having preceded him to the great beyond. He was again united in marriage to Ruth E. Crabb Oct. 25, 1905 and to this union were born two children: Zella Bernice and Ronald R. he leaves to mourn their loss a loving wife, five sons and two daughters, two brothers Humes Cummings of Colo and U. G. Gilger of Lyons, Colorado and two grand children and a host of friends.

Mr. Cummings came to Iowa at the age of 18 years. At the age of 24 he settled on his farm where he resided until his death. He was a man of true Christian character, to know him was to love him and his home was always open to all friends and strangers alike. He united with the M. E. church at Colo while a young man and had always lived a wholesome Christian life and as a good citizen.

Funeral services were held in the M. E. church Tuesday p. m. conducted by Rev. L. A. Fleming assisted by Rev. J. N. McCurdy. The text was Psalms 103:13, "Like as a father pitieth his children so the Lord pitieth thou that fear him." Interment was made in the Colo cemetery. Relatives from a distance who attended the funeral but were not present at the time of his death were his son Harry of Colorado Spring, a brother U. G. Gilger of Lyons, Colorado an a cousin, Mrs. Rose Watters of Des Moines. A large assembly of friends were present to pay tribute of love and respect. Sincere sympathy is extended to the sorrowing ones in their bereavement by the entire community.
