Obituary of Lulu Durby.

Lulu Durby was born January 26, 1900 and died at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Durby of Story City, June 19, 1921 at the age of 21 years, 4 months and 24 days and was buried from the Immanuel church on Wednesday, June 22, where a large concourse of sorrowing relatives and friends were gathered to pay their last tribute an see her remains laid to rest. The pall bearers were her class mates namely, Alma Heimark, Julia Johnson, Jeanette Hovland, Eva Jacobson, Agnes Hanson and Josie Thompson.

Lulu attended high school at Story City and graduated with the class of 1919, since that time she has been staying at home until last December when she together with her sister, Mrs. Lizzie Caltvedt went to California where they planned to make an extended visit through California and later to Seattle, Wash., before returning home. She was happy when they left to think she had the opportunity to take such a splendid trip. She enjoyed being out there very much and had a nice time until about six weeks ago when she was taken seriously sick and all plans had to be given up. She then realized her time might not be long on this earth and was anxious to get back home to her folks and friends to see them all. She lived two weeks after returning home. She gave up everything and was contented and happy to meet her God when the message came she had a longing to see Jesus as he really is. She could not imagine how good he was to have so much mercy and love for sinners. Her prayers were fulfilled. These were her last words, "I am now going to Jesus and I see him and his lambs and it is real. It is real." Then she called with a voice clear as crystal, "Everybody come to Jesus" and she then closed her eyes happily in death.

It seems strange one so young and seemingly had so much to live for should be called away so soon and it is hard to understand but some day it shall be understood that the Lord's will is best.

Lulu was a quiet home like girl, fond of music and flowers and pretty things. She was a general favorite at home and with her intimate friends and will be greatly missed by all her dear ones. Their loss is her gain. She leaves to mourn her early departure her father and mother, two sister and four brothers besides a large number of relatives and friends.
