Hold Funeral Service Tuesday at Colo for Mrs. Della Kirby

Funeral rites for Mrs. Della Kirby, 73, who died Sunday at the home of her son in Colo, were held Tuesday at 2:30 p. m. at the home of her son Charles in Colo, with Rev. E. C. Boom in charge and burial was in the Nevada cemetery.

Music was by Mrs. Earl Robison as vocal soloist and Mrs. Merle Dickenson at the piano. Flowers were in charge of Mrs. Robison and Mrs. Robert McIntosh.

The following brief sketch of the life of the deceased was read during the service:

"Della M. Kirby, born January 22, 1866 passed this life Dec. 10, 1939 at the age of 73 years, 10 months and 22 days. She was the daughter of Freeborn and Sarah* Dean, born in Owen county, Indiana. The family moved to Illinois when she was a small girl.

"Her parents died when she was very young leaving a family of 5 girls and 2 boys, all of whom have preceded her in death with the exception of one sister, Mrs. Maggie Motherway of Urbana, Illinois.

"She was united in marriage Dec. 6, 1885 to Amos Kirby, who depart this life Aug. 15, 1928. To this happy union were born two daughters and five sons: Myrtie Wycoff, of Nevada; Thomas Alper of Ames; G. H. Kirby of Story City; Charles of Colo; H. F. of Nevada and Ressie Steel [should be Steele] of Omaha. All survive but one son, Atrick, who died in childhood. She is blessed with 14 grandchildren and one great grandchild.

"Mrs. Kirby was a kind and loving mother, a woman who enjoyed the society of her family and sought to promote happiness.

"While a young woman she gave her heart to God and died trusting in her Saviour. Only a few day before her death she expressed herself to her devoted daughter-in-law, who tenderly cared for her in her last days, that she was ready to meet her Redeemer."

*SUBMITTER'S NOTE: Ardella "Della" Dean was the daughter of Freeborn Garrison Dean and Louisa Jane Fletcher. Her mother was not "Sarah" as stated.
