Funeral Services at Slater for Milford Brown

Slater, Sept. 26--Funeral services for Milford Brown, 47, were held Sunday afternoon at two o'clock at the home and two-thirty at the Bethlehem church. The services were in charge of Rev. E. R. Rorem, assisted by Rev. Peter Buland of the Sunset Home at Story City. The beautiful floral offerings were arranged by Miss Marie Folgero and Mrs. A. J. Reinertson. The pall bearers were: M. S. Michelson, Clarence Allman, Harold Ersland, Everett Twit, Roy Halverson and Morton Nerness. The Riis quartette composed of Homer Lewis, Marshall Clark, Robert Newman and Arnold Engelman, sang two selections, "The Lord Is My Shepherd" and "The Beautiful Land." A duet "In the Garden" was sung by Mrs. M. S. Heggen and Mrs. A. L. Peterson.

Several gifts of money to the missions were given in his memory by relatives and friends and the school.

Burial was made in the Bethlehem cemetery.

Milford Brown was born April 16, 1892, on a farm near Slater and died at his home Friday, September 22, 1939, at the age of 47 years and 5 months. His parents Martin and Inger Brown, preceded him in death. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.

His marriage to Miss Jennie Roe of Ellsworth took place in 1912. Nine children were born to this union, one of whom passed away.

The family joined the Bethlehem church in 1925 and have been active members since that time. He was a devoted husband, a loving father and a kind friend. He is survived by his wife and eight children, Melvin Brown of Huxley, Mrs. Art Michael, Donald, Bernard, Phillip, Wilma, Betty and Shirley, also two brothers, Ed Brown of Ames, and O. M. Brown of Slater, three sisters, Mrs. C. O. Neslund of Des Moines, Mrs. H. C. Granseth and Miss Marie Brown and a large number of relatives and friends.
