Prominent Collins Resident Will be Buried Tuesday

Collins July 10--Mrs. G. F. Holland, 64, a lifelong resident of Collins township, died shortly after noon Saturday, at the Iowa Lutheran hospital in Des Moines where she had been taken for treatment Thursday.Mrs. Holland who had been in failing health for the past two years or more, was taken ill on Tuesday white at the home of her daughter Mrs. William Smith in Des Moines and on Thursday was taken to the hospital.
Funeral rites will be held Tuesday at 2:30 p. m. at the Methodist church in Collins, with a former pastor Rev. Paul McDade in charge. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery there.
She was born Flora E. Denniston, daughter of David and Sarah Denniston in Collins township April 24, 1875, and spent her entire life in this community.
She was united in marriage to George F. Holland January 2, 1897, and to them were born four children. The children are Lloyd D. Holland of Collins, Vern E. Holland of Oak Park, Ill., Mrs. Esther Smith of Des Moines and Mrs. Marie Ryan of Greeley, Colorado.
She also leaves her husband, six grandchildren, a brother H. C. Denniston of Collins, 4 nieces and various other relatives and a wide circle of close friends.
Her first church affiliation was with the Methodist Protestant church in Collins but after that church became non-existent, she became a worker in the Methodist Episcopal, now the Methodist church. She was actively identified with the auxiliaries of this church, belonged to the Collins Chapter O. E. S., was a member of the American Legion Auxiliaries and had been active in charitable and civic activities in the community in which the 64 years of her life had been so closely interwoven.
