Former Zearing Woman Died at Marshalltown
Special to the Journal.
Zearing, Aug. 17--Mrs. Susie Coffelt, 75, former Zearing woman, where she was known before her marriage as Miss Susie Williams, will be buried here late this afternoon.Mrs. Coffelt, wife of C. H. Coffelt, 109 North First street, died at 2 o'clock Saturday morning of heart disease. She had been ill about two months and had been confined to her bed the past two weeks.
Mrs. Coffelt was born Susie Williams, in Clearville, Pa., Jan. 11, 1861, the daughter of Asa M. and Mary Ellen Williams. When she was 12 years of age the family came to Iowa, settling in Zearing, where she was educated and where she was married to C. H. Coffelt June 5, 1901.
Mr. Coffelt owned a grocery store in Zearing, which he ran for few years. Later he was in the grocery business in Gilman, Liscomb and Union. Four years ago Mr. Coffelt retired and moved to Marshalltown to the home where Mrs. Coffelt died.
Mrs. Coffelt was a member of the Christian church at Zearing.
She was the oldest in family of six girls. A sister, Mrs. Laura King, died a year ago. Surviving are Mr. Coffelt and four sisters, Mrs. Belle Armstrong of Fargo, N. D. , Mrs. Sadie Burkhart of Long Beach, Calif., Mrs. J. L. Armstrong of Zearing and Mrs. Jennie Price of Marshalltown.
