Funeral Services Held at Cambridge for Fred W. Larson

Special to the Journal:
Cambridge, March 28--Funeral for Fred W. Larson, 73, long prominent Cambridge citizen, who died at Los Angeles, California, March 22, were held at the Methodist Episcopal church in Cambridge Sunday afternoon at 2:00 and burial was made in the family lot in the Cambridge cemetery. Rev. Judson Perkins pastor, assisted by Rev. Buland of the Cambridge Lutheran church, was in charge.

Fred W. Larson, son of Jonas and Nelsia Larson was born on April 7, 1865 at Clinton Junction, Boone county, Illinois and died at his home in Los Angeles, California on March 22, 1939; aged 73 years, 11 months and 16 days. He had been in failing health for some time.

His parents moved to Iowa when he was about two years old, and settled near Cambridge, where he grew to manhood. During most of his life he engaged in business in Cambridge. He moved to Des Moines in 1927 and then to Los Angeles, California in 1936.

On November 16, 1872 he was united in marriage to Augusta Knutson in Des Moines. To this union four daughters were born, Florence, Jessie, Charlotte and Eda, all of whom survive. His wife died on March 31, 1917.

As a young man he united with the Lutheran church, later transferring his membership to the Methodist church in Cambridge where he was an active member for many years. When the family moved to Des Moines he membership was transferred to Grace Methodist church, where it remained until his death.

Mr. Larson was an earnest Christian man. He was widely known throughout Story County being much respected by all who knew him. He was always interested in schools, churches and in every thing which would be for the betterment of the community. He was a loving husband and father and a good friend and neighbor.

Surviving are his four daughters, Florence and Jessie of Los Angeles, California, Mrs. H. W. (Charlotte) Cargill of Des Moines, Mrs. J. A. (Eda) Copple of Denison; two grand-daughters, Beverly Jean and Janyce Ann Copple of Denison; twelve brothers and sisters; Lew Larson, Slater; Mrs. Milla Tollefson,, Nevada; Mrs. C. T. Larson, Huxley; Mrs. Hilda Ekrem, Minneapolis, Minnesota; Dr. E. M. Larson, Great Falls, Montana; Ms. Ed Anderson, Cambridge; Mrs. George Severson, Slater; Tennis Larson, Alleman; Mrs. Tolen Engen, Cambridge; Miss Cora Larson, Cambridge; and Joe Larson, Los Angeles, California. Very many nieces and nephews and other relatives and a large circle of friends also mourn his death.
