Wherry Funeral Friday Afternoon

The funeral services for Clarence H. Wherry, 35, who dropped dead from heart failure at Colo Wednesday forenoon, were held Friday afternoon at Memorial Lutheran church, this city, after which interment was in the Nevada cemetery. The church was filled with relatives and old neighbors and friends.

The services were in charge of his pastor Rev. R. A. Helms of St. Paul's Lutheran church, Fernald, with scripture reading and a prayer by D. W. Wise. A male quartette from Colo sang.

Clarence H. Wherry was born in Oxford township, Jones county, December 19, 1891, a son of George L. and Mary A. Wherry. He was a la of eight years when the parents moved to Richland township, Story county and in this county he grew to manhood. He lived in that neighborhood and was married September 8, 1920 to Miss Alice Walker. They continued their home on the old homestead until March 1 of this year, when they moved to Colo, where he was employed by the telephone company at the time of his sudden passing.

Mr. and Mrs. Wherry were blessed with one child, Geraldine, age 5, who with the wife and mother is left to mourn his passing. He also leaves his mother, Mrs. Mary Wherry, who lives in Fernald but is at present ill at the Iowa sanitarium, and one sister, Mrs. Ira Vail of northeast of Fernald.

Mr. Wherry was a young man of fine character and integrity and was highly respected in the neighborhood in which he had lived so long.
