Funeral Services Held Here Friday for Walter Elmore

Funeral services for Walter Elmore, 70, earlier ay resident of Nevada, who died at Detroit, Mich., Tuesday were held at the Morfoot Funeral home Friday afternoon, with Dr. Raymond M. Shipman of Des Moines former Nevada Methodist pastor in charge.

The songs were by Mrs. Freeland and Mrs. Jacobs, the floral offerings were very beautiful and the rooms were well filled by relatives and oldtime friends and neighbors.

Pallbearers were Ed Shalley, Mike McLaughlin, Herman Johnson, P. K. Mathison, Milo Berka and Byron Bryant.

Following the service at the funeral home the body was accompanied to the Nevada cemetery where it was laid to rest in the family lot.

He is survive by his wife; daughters Mrs. Forrest Mayo of Nevada, Mrs. Wayne Herr and Mrs. M. J. Zurich [should be Zunich] of Detroit and one son Ralph Elmore St. Claire, Michigan. Also a brother Wilbur Elmore of Detroit and sisters Mrs. Effie Belcher and Mrs. Mayme Larson of Nevada.

Born January 4, 1871, Walter came to Iowa with his family when he was three years of age the family settling near Oskaloosa. When he was about 14 years of age the family came to Nevada and here was his home continuously until he moved with his family to Detroit in 1920, with the single exception of a short time he spent at Sioux Center, Minn.

He was a man of industry and thrift and was beloved by his family and respected by a wide circle of friends.
