Funeral Services Held Saturday For Fannie E. Rumbaugh

Collins, Dec. 20--Funeral services for the late Fannie E. Rumbaugh, who died Dec. 11, were held Saturday afternoon, Dec. 13, at 1:45 from the home and at 2 p.m. from the Church of Christ. The Rev. Henry Ersch and the Rev. Aldreth V. Weigel were in charge of the services.

A quartet composed of Alta Neal, Dorothy Southern, Eldon Geisler and Othal Hulse, sand "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere" and "In the Garden," Eldon Geisler sang "Sunrise," Mrs. L. I. Pickett plying the piano accompaniment. Mrs. Carrie Hays played a prelude and postlude of music.

Those having charge of the many floral contributions were Reva Morrison, Doris Duesbury and Lena Geisler.

Casket bearers were Lowell Carver, Ralph Carver, Harold Long, Alva Kendig, Tracy Kendig and Roscoe Kendig. Interment was in the Greencastle cemetery near Mingo.

Fannie Estella Kendig, daughter of Jacob and Elizabeth Kendig, was born August 24, 1878, in Como, Ill., and passed away at her home in Collin, Iowa, Dec. 11, 1947, after a lingering illness, at the age of 69 years, 3 months and 7 days.

At the age of four she came to Marshalltown, Ia., where the family lived for one year, the remainder of her life being spent in the vicinity of Story and Jasper counties.

She united in marriage with Geo. L. Rumbaugh on June 9, 1895, in Greencastle, Ia. To this union 14 children were born, all of whom survives except one son, Carroll, who passed away at the age of eight years.

She leaves to mourn her passing her husband, George, eight daughters, Iva Green of West Des Moines; Ruby Carver of Des Moines; Grace Long of Farrar; Helen Carver of Maxwell; Bernadene Timmermeier of Newton; Mildred Borts of Mingo; Eva Morrison of Collins; Fern Richeson of Collins; five sons, Raleigh of Cambridge; Paul, George and Reid of Mingo and Harold of Collins; 25 grandchildren, one sister Mrs. Anna Witmer; two brothers Sam and Aldus Kendig and a host of other relatives and friends.

She was a faithful companion, a loving mother and homemaker supreme.
