Roland, Dec. 19--Relatives received the message Friday evening telling of the sudden death of Mr. Carl Johnson, of Marshalltown, of a heart attack and was found dead by her husband in the evening when he returned from work. Mrs. Johnson was in her usual health and had planned to get her usual physical checkup that afternoon.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at Elim Lutheran Church with the Rev. Lokinsgaard in charge and burial was made in the Marshalltown cemetery.

Mrs. Johnson, the former Mary Evenson, was born at Roland on January 21, 1877. She grew to womanhood here and was married to Carl Johnson of Marshalltown at Roland on Oct. 12, 1904. Since her marriage she has lived at Marshalltown.

She is survived by her husband, one daughter, Mrs. Wilbur Springer of Marshalltown, and a son Floyd in the U. S. Army stationed in Germany and one grandson, Robert Springer, in the U. S. Navy stationed in Florida, also her step mother, Mrs. John Evenson of Roland, three brothers, Joseph Evenson of Long Beach, Calif., Martin of Northwood and Rev. A. J. Evenson of Sherman, S. D., three step brothers, Harry Evenson of Roland, Ben of Story City, Orville of Marshalltown and four step sisters, Mrs. A. M. Cory of Roland, Mrs. Roy Lockhart of Duluth, Minn., Mrs. Andrew Alvestad of Long Beach, Cal., and Miss Theresa Evenson of Council Bluffs. Her parents, two brothers and two sisters have preceded her in death.

Those attending the funeral from here were Mrs. A. M. Cory, Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Evenson of Roland and Mrs. B. L. Clemends and son of Story City.
