August Switzer, Colo, Dies at 81; Rites Tomorrow

Colo, Dec. 16 -- Funeral services will be held here Wednesday morning for August Switzer, 81, Story County pioneer who died at his home early Monday morning. Rites will be conducted at 9:30 from St. Mary's Catholic church with the Rev. Vern Cross, pastor officiating. Burial will be in St. James cemetery here.

Mr. Switzer suffered a stroke a week ago today but was recovering rapidly until a sudden turn for the worse Sunday night.

He was born near Story City and spent most of his life in Story county. He was united in marriage with Anna Leininger at Gilbert Sept. 28, 1895. They moved to Colo in December, 1940, coming here from Boone where they had lived about five years. Prier to that time they had farmed near Gilbert for 18 years.

Surviving are his wife; two sons, Roy, Boone, and Ray, Ames; two daughters, Mrs. Charles Thompson, Williams, and Mrs. Harold Greiner, Colo, and five grandchildren.
