Hold Funeral Services For Huxley Resident

Huxley, Sept. 24 -- Funeral services for Lewis Munson [should be Monson] of Huxley were held Wednesday afternoon Sept. 17 a brief service at the home preceding rites at the Palestine Lutheran church. The Rev. H. E. Jacobson, pastor, officiated.

Lewis Munson was born Dec. 29, 1857, at Lisbon, Ill., son of John and Bertha Munson. He was baptized and confirmed by Pastor P. A. Rasmussen in the town of his birth.

He came to Story county at the age of 18 and settled on a farm west of Huxley.

On March 1, 1881, he was united in marriage to Miss Secilie Richardson of this community. The young bride passed away less than a year later.

On Nov. 2, 1882, Munson was married a second time, to Miss Carrie Richardson, a cousin of his first wife. To this union seven children were born.

Mr. Munson moved into town from west of Huxley in 1915 and on Dec. 11, 1918, was married to Sara Orsvold of Des Moines.

Death came to the retired farmer at the age of 89. He passed away Saturday afternoon, Sept. 13, at his home in Huxley after an illness of two years, the last two months in bed.

Surviving are his wife, Sara, four daughters, Mrs. Harry (Celia) Haig, Des Moines, Mrs. Lewis (Minnie) Erickson, Kelley; Mrs. John (Mary) Dobbe and Miss Bertha Munson, Huxley, 15 grandchildren and one half-brother, Theodore Munson, West Bend.
