Mrs. E. P. Windman Dies Sunday; Services Wed.

Mrs. E. P. Windman English and language teacher in the Nevada schools for many years, died at Mary Greeley Hospital in Ames Sunday after an extended illness.

The daughter of the late Rev. and Mrs. G. W. W. Amick, she was born in Johnstown, Pa. in 1897. She graduated from the Ft. Madison (Ia.) high school in 1915 while her father was pastor there and was valedictorian of her class. She graduated from Carthage (Ill.) College in 1919 at the top of her class.

She taught Latin and chemistry in the Schoharie High School in New York and later Latin in Johnstown, Pa.

In 1925 she married the Rev. Ernest P. Windman in Kattaning, Pa. After her marriage she taught in Bridgeport, Ohio and in Everret, Pa.

When the Windmans moved to Nevada, where her husband was pastor of the Memorial Lutheran Church, she taught Latin, English and French and was librarian and faculty sponsor of The Echo from 1947 until she retired in 1964. During her teaching tenure here she added two 12-week courses in library science at Colorado State and a six-week course at the University of Utah.

Mrs. Windman was active in her husband's church. She taught a Sunday School class, a junior age catechism class, and was adult sponsor of the Luther League. She was a member of the A.M. chapter P.E.O. sisterhood and of Grace Lutherans Church, Muscatine.

Survivors include her husband, the Rev. Ernest P. Windman of Nevada; a daughter, Dr. Georgia Spreen of Victoria, B. C.; four grandchildren; and a brother, Arthur Amick of Ft. Madison.

Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Ryan Funeral Home with Dr. E. A. Piper and Pastor Harry Myklebust officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens, Muscatine.

The casket will not be opened.
