REV. ERNEST P. WINDMAN
Funeral services will be held in the Memorial Lutheran Church Thursday at 10:30 a.m. for Ernest P. Windman who died Sunday evening in the Story County Hospital where he had been for the past 2 months.
Rev. Windman was born November 7, 1892 in Muscatine to William and Hattie Windman. He was educated in the Muscatine school system, graduated from Carthage College in 1920 and from the Gettysburg, Pennsylvania Seminary in 1923. In 1973, Rev. Windman celebrated the 50th anniversary of his ordination as a Lutheran minister. He was pastor of the Memorial Lutheran Church in Nevada from 1944 until his retirement in 1959.
Rev. Windman was a charter member of the Nevada Lions Club, the 20th Century Club and the American Legion.
He is survived by 1 daughter, Mrs. Otfried (Georgia) Spreen of Victoria, British Columbia, and 4 grandchildren.
Rev. Windman was preceded in death by his parents, several brothers and sisters and his wife, Margaret Amick Windman, who died in 1967.
Burial in the Muscatine, Iowa Memorial Park Cemetery will follow the services to be conducted by Pastors Myklebust, Lingwall, Hanson and Piper. Friends may call at the Ryan Funeral Home from Wednesday morning until 9 a.m. Thursday.
