Funeral Services For Jesse Day Held on Friday

Funeral services for Jesse Day, who passed away June 16, were held from the Ryan Funeral Home Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock with the Rev. Russell of Colo officiating assisted by Rev. Walters of Nevada.

Two songs, "Rock of Ages" and "We Are Going Down the Valley," were sung by LaVerne Horner, William Lounsberry, Paul Henry and Mark Wilson accompanied by Mrs. Merle Dickinson. I.O.O.F. services were held at the grave in charge of Wilford Ward and assisted by Henry Hemping.

The pall bearers were Orval Weir, Fay Ward, Porter King, Gale Etnier, Forrest Horner and Henry Hemping.

Burial was made in the Colo cemetery.

Jesse Day was born March 12, 1890 at Princeton, Illinois, the son of George and Addie Day, and passed away at his home in Nevada, June 15, 1947 at the age of 57 years, 3 months and 4 days. He had been in failing health for the past 5 years.

He was united in marriage on December 18, 1919 to Amy Dayton. To this union were born 5 children. He leaves to mourn his passing his widow; two sons, Eugene of Nevada and Earl of Des Monies; three daughters, Margaret Adams of Nevada, Isabelle Lehrkamp of Carroll and Bernice Day of Nevada; his father, George Day; two sisters, his twin, Mrs. Susie Young of Maxwell and Mrs. Charlie Hart of State Center; half sisters and a half brother; four granddaughters, a number of other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, a brother and a sister.

Mr. Day came to Iowa at the age of two years, the family settling near Colo. He had remained a resident of the Colo community until moving to Nevada in 1945. He was a charter member of the Colo Rebecca Lodge, a member of the Colo I.O.O.F. Lodge and a veteran of World War I.

He will be deeply mourned and greatly missed by his many friends and loved ones.

Those attending the funeral from a distance were Mr. and Mrs. Frances Day of Riceville, Ia., Mrs. Charlotte Day of Union Grove, Wis., Ben Day and Mrs. Geo. Dodd of Newton, Mrs. Myrtle Day of Iowa Falls, Willard Day of Des Moines, Mrs. Susie Young of Maxwell, Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Lehrkamp of Carroll, Earl Day of Des Moines, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Morris of Fayetteville, N. C.
