Slater, March 10 -- Funeral services for Mrs. George Houge were held at the home Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, The services were in charge of Rev. G. O. Mona of Minneapolis, Minn., assisted by Rev. Walter Bergren of Polk City.

Miss Edna Houge had charge of the beautiful floral offerings. A number of gifts to missions in memory of Mrs. Houge were given by relatives and friends.

Walter Christopher of Huxley sang a Norwegian song, "Hoile Engang." Mrs. G. O. Mona sang "I Know Of A Sleep In Jesus Name" and a Norwegian song, "O at Jeg Kunde Min Fresler Prise." The pall bearers were W. O. Houge of Clinton, Walter Christopher and Jeffrey Houge of Huxley, Frederick Stenson of Nevada, Olaf Austin of Sheldahl and Oley Houge of Slater.

Burial was made in the old Sheldahl cemetery north of Slater.

Hannah Johnson was born at Stavanger, Norway, May 17, 1865 and died at the Mary Greeley hospital in Ames, March 1, 1947 at the age of 81 years, 8 months and 14 days. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and grew to womanhood in Norway. She came to America in 1892 and lived in Des Moines and this vicinity. While here she established a millinery shop which she operated for several years. Her marriage to George Houge took place July 7th, 1909. They made their home on a farm near Slater for a number of years. About eight years ago they retired from farming and moved into Slater where they have since made their home. Mrs. Houge was a devoted wife and faithful friend. Her health had been failing the past year. Two weeks ago she was taken to the Mary Greeley hospital in Ames where she remained until her death March 1 from a heart ailment and complications.

Mrs. Houge is survived by her husband and one brother, John Johnson of Radcliffe also several nieces and nephews.

O Houge of Clinton; John Johnson and son Nobel of Radcliffe; Mr. and Mrs. R. Risser of Pasadena, Calif.; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Stenson and family of Roland; Mr. and Mrs. O. T. Weeks all of Nevada; Mrs. Paul Mulenthaler, Mrs. Lee Parmenter, Mrs P. D. Clements of Des Moines; Mrs. Verna Cole, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Erickson of Ames; Mr. and Mrs. Arne Christopher of Sheldahl and Mr. and Mrs. Jeffrey Houge of Huxley.
