EVANS FUNERAL SERVICES HELD

Funeral services for Joseph M. Evans were held at the home of his son Bert this morning at 10:00 o'clock. The funeral party motored to Maxwell, where the interment was made.

The G. A. R. post accompanied the funeral party in a body.

Pall bearers were A. English, G. W. Hemstock, J. F. Gillespie, M. W. Montgomery, J. B. Rushmore and O. A. Minkler.

Jospeh McCrary Evans was born in Crawfordsville, Ind., April 10, 1833. Died November 22, 1920, aged 76 years, 7 months and 2 days.

He was a member of the 10th Indiana Infantry, and served one year in the civil war.

He was married to Frances B. Evans in 1845. To this marriage were born four children: A son, who died in infancy, J. S. Evans, now of Pleasantville, Iowa; Chas. Evans of Carlish, and Wm. of Canby, Minn.

After the death of his first wife, he was again married, taking to himself Isabelle Simmons in 1975 [should be 1875.] To this union one child was born, but died in babyhood. After the decease of his second wife, he was married to Susan Haltman [should be Halterman.] Two children were born, Bert of Nevada and Emily, who died at the age of eight years. This wife also preceded him in 1866 He came to Tama county, Ia.,a nd about 16 years ago moved to Nevada, where he had since made his home with his son.

SUBMITTER'S NOTE: Joseph McCrary Evans married three times: (1) Sarah Frances Jesse on 30 May 1865 in Boone County, Indiana. She died 4 April 1875. He married (2) Isabell Simmons/Simons on 29 July 1875 in Warren County, Iowa. She died 18 January 1877. He married (3) Susan/Susannah Halterman on 10 November 1877 in Warren County, Iowa. Susan Halterman Evans died 25 Jun 1905.
