OLDEST RESIDENT OF COUNTY DIES
William E. Armstrong, probably the oldest resident of Story county and Nevada at least died Sunday night at 8:30 o'clock after an illness of some duration.
He was born in Franklin, Johnson county, Ind. May 2, 1852 an came to this state with his parents in 1854. One year later his parents moved to Nevada and Mr. Armstrong has been a resident here since that time.
He learned the printer's trade on the old Aegis which is now The Representative.
In 1872 he was married to Evaline Murphy and of this union eight children were born, three of whom are living and are Charles E. and Glenn of Nevada and Henry E. Armstrong of Des Moines.
Two brothers are Henry A. of Washington and Simon E. of Nevada. Sisters are Mrs. M. E. Stone and Mrs. H. M. Waters of Iowa Falls.
The funeral will be held Tuesday at 2:30 at the home. Rev. J. G. Walz of the Presbyterian church will be in charge.
